April 17, 2009 As a result of the investigation led by the public prosecutor, it was decided by the courts on the morning of April 17th 2009 that the Founder and President of our University, Prof. Dr. Mehmet HABERAL, and member of the Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Dr. Fatih HİLMİOĞLU, shall be tried under a state of arrest. This decree has affected us all very deeply. We continue to have faith in Turkish Justice. Our President is currently in good health and has requested that we relay the following message to you: “We as Members of Başkent University shall continue to work even harder and carry out our duties with more confidence on the road opened by the Great Leader Atatürk, who once said, ‘My spiritual heritage is science and intellect.’”
